Skin. Waves. Folds. Bodies. Diffusion. Softness.
"The Untold" is a sound piece installation featured in the Vessels-Gefässe exhibition, which marked the conclusion of a lab at ZHdK. Supported by Caro Baur and Nicole Frei, the exhibition was curated by students from the MA Transdisciplinary Arts program at ZHdK.
This sound piece was created in collaboration with a visual installation by Garrick Lauterbach. This video installation complemented the theme of untold stories within our voices. The setup featured three speakers, each representing a different voice, and a video projection on the ceiling. To enhance the experience, the room was filled with pillows arranged in the center of the speakers, creating a therapeutic and calming environment. This arrangement offered a sensorial experience, engaging both listening and viewing senses.
What are "Vessels"? Simple things designed to transport other things, berries, fruits, stories, and even ideas - perhaps even other vessels. But what are the ominous figures, popularised by Ursula Le Guin's concept "the carrier bag of fiction"? An alternative perspective to consider. What stories are worth collecting? A new way of thinking about what is worth collecting? Or are we always already collectors, before we are anything else? Are our bodies vessels?
What is a question? is it a container? something that informs us or forms us? or something that makes us more hesitant or more aware? or the thing that already contains a knowledge within it's quest? maybe it's what forms our awareness and awakens the shadows in our vessels, the body, the mind, the feelings, the surrounding, the earth, the mist, the air, the bodies, the inanimate, the living and the dead, the light in it's silhouette, the mind and thought, every possibility leads to interrogate the life within and around us.
